The 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP), adopted by world leaders at the Rio+20 Conference, is a global framework of action to enhance international cooperation for and accelerate the shift towards sustainable consumption and production patterns in both developed and developing countries. The main objectives of the 10YFP are to contribute to resource efficiency, decouple economic growth from environmental degradation and resource use while creating decent job and economic opportunities, and contribute to poverty eradication and shared prosperity. To this end, the 10YFP supports implementation of regional and national policies and initiatives and builds capacities for the mainstreaming of SCP into sustainable development policies; facilitates access to financial and technical assistance for developing countries; and serves as an information and knowledge platform on SCP to enable all stakeholders to share tools, initiatives and best practices. The 10YFP has five initial programmes, and the 10YFP Programme on Sustainable Public Procurement is the first to be launched
