Goodyear, one of the world’s largest tire companies, has become the latest company to sign up to The Suppliers Partnership for the Environment (SP) alongside Chrysler, Ford, General Motors and Johnson Controls.
SP is a partnership between automotive manufacturers, suppliers and the US Environment Protection Agency that allows groups throughout the industry to discuss new ways of protecting the environment, sharing best practice and creating value.
SP’s chair, Randy Leslie, vice president and general manager at Johnson Controls said “We are pleased to welcome Goodyear to SP.”
“Goodyear’s commitment to creating a foundation of sustainability and working with its suppliers to minimise its environmental footprint will be an excellent asset for SP’s members as we work together to improve environmental performance while increasing value throughout the automobile supply chain," he added.
David Chapman, director, global EHS sustainability at Goodyear and part of the team that will represent the tire giant at SP said “Goodyear is pleased to be part of the Suppliers Partnership for the Environment."
"As a company and industry participant, Goodyear is actively addressing sustainability issues and looks forward to combining the experience and environmental leadership of SP’s member companies with that of Goodyear’s Global Sustainability Team as we work on key issues such as materials optimisation, operational efficiency and reducing energy use in our supply chain," he added.
