Buying locally has become an important consideration for many organisations as they assess how best to drive value from using local suppliers in their supply chain. Not only does it have socio-economic benefits such as aiding regeneration, improving local skills and reducing unemployment but it can also support environmental initiatives such as reducing pollution and carbon emissions by reducing mileage. Local sourcing is important but it's not always easy to do. To help local corporates the City of London has released a Local Procurement Toolkit which provides practical and usable resources as well as links to local procurement best practice to help organisations establish trading relationships with small businesses.
