Garment suppliers’ factories in a Bangladesh complex that collapsed had passed safety audits, prompting tough questions of retailers’ supplier inspections. According to reports on The Wall Street Journal, at least two of the buildings in the Rana Plaza complex, a series of factories located 20 miles outside the capital Dhaka which collapsed killing at least 275 people and injuring more than 1000 more, had passed international labour and safety standard audits conducted by a European trade organisation.
