On December 16th, FedEx handled an estimated 22 million packages in 24 hours, more than double its average daily volume. In fact, the company had record-breaking volumes on three consecutive Mondays in December 2014. Getting these millions of packages to their destinations is a vast and complex network. Just the ferrying is a fleet of 90, 000 vehicles, comprising of aircraft, boats, gondolas, electric tricycles, and all-electric and hybrid delivery vans.
