Consumer-goods giant Unilever has launched an online open innovation system to help it achieve its goal of doubling revenues while reducing its environmental impact.
The company, which owns some of the world’s most famous brands including Cif and Hellmans, has publicly stated its ambitious targets on several occasions, and sees the input of third-parties as key to helping it achieve its goals. The latest launch in its open innovation programme will form a central part of the strategy.
“We know that the world is full of brilliant people with brilliant ideas, and we are constantly looking for new ways to tap into this potential by working with partners who have a fresh, serious approach to developing exciting new technology,” said Roger Leech, Unilever’s open innovation scouting director.
"Smart collaboration with partners gives both parties the freedom to do business in new and invigorating ways – creating shared value along the way.”
Suppliers will form a key part of the company’s open innovation vision, with the company targeting its supply base in a charm offensive which kicked off last year.
